Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is searching for two sponsors to complete the Award category line-up for the 2012 Awards. With eight Award categories already confirmed, there are two further Award opportunities available before this year’s Dorset Business Awards officially launch on June 27 at the beautiful Victorian Barn, Woolland.

Astounding enterprises celebrated in style at the 2011 Daily Echo-backed Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday November 24.

Businesses from across the region were honoured in nine award categories in front of an audience of more than 500 guests watching the glittering ceremony, hosted by actress and comedian Debra Stephenson, at the Poole Lighthouse.

Organised by Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also supported by Wave 105 and the Dorset Echo, the Dorset Business Awards have become the largest of its type in the county, and the awards ceremony is a major feature on the county’s annual business calendar.

Anticipation grows ahead of this month’s prestigious Daily Echo-backed Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner. All 2011 finalists – 27 first-class businesses, three schools and three apprentices – have congregated to attend an exclusive drinks reception with the Award sponsors in celebration of reaching the penultimate stage of the competition.

Taking place at Hoburne Park in Christchurch on 14 November, the exclusive drinks reception enabled finalists to meet each other as well as the sponsors, celebrate their achievements and find out about the glittering Oscar-style Awards Gala Dinner at the Poole Lighthouse on 24 November.

The 2011 ‘Oscar’ is sponsored by Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and is being designed by Mark Greengrass of Arboretti. Every year, the trophy incorporates a local stone base, with Purbeck marble being used this year to represent the Dorset theme. Each year the top of the award is altered to create a unique trophy for the current winner. The design of the top of the trophy will be kept a closely guarded secret until the Awards evening when nine firms, one apprentice and one school will be crowned as winners from the strong list of shortlisted finalists.

After weeks of deliberation, the judges for the 2011 Dorset Business Awards have produced an extremely strong shortlist of 27 companies and three schools across nine categories, with the winners being named at the Awards ceremony in November.
