Eligibility
The KPMG Company of the Year Award is open to any company or subsidiaries of national and international businesses which has a BH/DT postcode and whose business is primarily based in Dorset.
Description of the Award from Sponsors
To be in the running to be named Dorset’s premier company, businesses need to demonstrate an outstanding financial track record, with strong sales growth and a commitment to increasing profitability. The winning company is likely to be a leader in its own market with dedication to excellence in products and services and a dynamic approach to quality and innovation.
This year’s KPMG Company of the Year must display the ability to think strategically, keep abreast of new developments both in its own industry and the wider economy and illustrate plans for future growth. Last but not least, it will exhibit a strong commitment to its employees’ needs and aspirations as well as contribution to the county’s environment through sustainable business practices.

- Contribution to enhancing Dorset's business reputation and protecting the county's environment
Application process
Entry can be either online or paper based.
- Online entry
If you are entering on-line you will have the ability to create an account and will therefore be able to save your entry and log in at a later date to complete if required. Complete the entry form on the right hand side which will also give you the opportunity to upload files if you wish.

Supporting Documentation
Your entry should be accompanied by a copy of the entry form and a written statement of not more than five A4 pages, describing why the company should be considered for the award. The information must be in line with the listed judging criteria on www.dorsetbusinessawards.co.uk.
The application should be accompanied by supporting evidence (eg photographs, press cutting and endorsements, product literature) and the latest two sets of accounts, with an additional up-to-date statement if the accounts are more than nine months old.
Closing date for entries is Friday 17 September 2010. Please note this date is final and will not be extended.
Judging process
Site visits will be made to short listed companies by representatives of the judging panel.
Judging will commence late September early October 2010.
Finalists will be invited to attend the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday 9th December 2010 at the Lighthouse in Poole as a guest of their Sponsor.
