Eligibility
The Princecroft Willis Family Business Award is open to family businesses who have a BH/DT postcode or are based in Dorset.
Nominates may be by the business itself or a fellow member, customer, supplier or employee. All third party nominations must be made with the full knowledge and co-operation of the nominated business.
Description of the Award from Sponsors
Surveys indicate that only one third of family businesses survive to the second generation so to be successful a family business must be innovative, adaptable and have a healthy culture in place - our award is designed to recognise and celebrate that success.
Entry criteria
Participating businesses will be marked on the following criteria:
- Longevity
- Innovativeness of the original business concept
- Number of generations the business has survived
- Family involvement in the business in terms of numbers and generations
- Internal culture – IIP status, etc.
- Profitability
Any reference to employee and turnover figures should relate to the operations based in Dorset.
Application process
Entry can be either online or paper based.
- Online entry
If you are entering on-line you will have the ability to create an account and will therefore be able to save your entry and log in at a later date to complete if required. Complete the entry form on the right hand side which will also give you the opportunity to upload files if you wish.
- Paper-based entry

Additional supporting evidence including photographs, press cuttings and endorsements may be included for your entry.
For the successful applicants who are shortlisted we will require further information, but will contact those businesses
Closing date for entries is Friday 17 September 2010. Please note this date is final and will not be extended.
Judging process
Shortlisted businesses may be invited to give a short presentation to judges after the closing date and/or may receive a visit from the judges.
Judging will commence late September early October 2010.
Finalists will be invited to attend the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday 9th December 2010 at the Lighthouse in Poole as a guest of their Sponsor.
