This year’s launch events saw the introduction of a new Dorset Business Awards logo. The Dorset Business Awards steering group set a challenging open brief for the students on the FdA Visual Communication course at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth (AIB), who then set about the task with fervour over their Easter break.

Matt Desmier, Enterprise Manager for AIB, commented: “We felt the students did a really impressive job. They produced an extraordinary number of high-quality designs that made the task of choosing a winner really difficult for the steering group and sponsors.”

John Last, Deputy Principal of AIB, said “The Institute continues to develop its close links with Dorset Business and the regional business community, and is pleased to have live briefs such as the website design. Such projects bring established creative industry businesses and the wider business community closer together, and brings students who aspire to practice into closer and fruitful relationships”.

Peter Scott, Chief Executive of Dorset Business (the Chamber of Commerce & Industry) replied on behalf of the local business community: “We are delighted that the Arts Institute continues to support top-class creative businesses in the region, through projects such as this. Our work with AIB and the Enterprise Pavilion helps to establish new businesses for the future. And these are precisely the kind of partnerships at which Dorset excels.”

The winning logo chosen by the Dorset Business Awards sponsors was designed by Luke Carre, Christopher Matthews and David Higgs, who are studying the FdA Visual Communication course at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth (AIB).

This year’s awards process also see the arrival of five new award categories and a revived website, making this year’s competition the biggest and best yet.
