UK Trade & Investment is the Government organisation that supports companies doing business internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK.

The aim of UK Trade & Investment South West is to build the success of South West businesses internationally. Our main objectives are to:

Increase the contributions which international trade makes to the regional economy and strengthen the skills and capabilities of regional businesses to trade internationally.
Understand and respond to the needs of business and the barriers to their international trade development.

Through the Passport to Export Programme we provide training, advice and ongoing support to small and medium-sized enterprises wanting to develop their overseas trade. Professional workshops on international trade are run throughout the South West Region not only for those on the Passport programme but for other companies that would benefit from courses on topics such as negotiation skills, planning and updating your internet strategy, exhibiting in the UK and overseas, managing and appointing agents and distributors, presentation skills and so on.

UK Trade & Investment South West’s International Business Award will reward and recognise SMEs who have been particularly successful in accessing overseas markets and whose international trade strategy has translated into increased international sales.

Entry Criteria/Eligibility

The judging panel will be looking for:

Evidence of how an international trade strategy has translated into results.
How successful the company has been in accessing overseas markets.
A clear indication of future plans and commitment to consolidate and/or increase international sales.

Entry Deadline

Closing date for Nominations is 29th September 2006.

Judging will commence on the 9th October 2006.

The 12th Annual Dorset Business Awards, organised for the very first time by Dorset Business (the Chamber of Commerce and Industry) are now closed for entries.

Judging is taking place during the month of October and if you have entered an award you will be contacted directly by the awards sponsors to let you know if you have been chosen as a finalist.
