The Best Employer for a Healthy Workplace Award sponsored by Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital is open to any business, of any size and from any sector with a BH/DT postcode or who is based in Dorset. 

Description of the Award from Sponsors

This award has been established to recognise businesses that do all they can to promote the well being and health of their employees.  We believe employers can influence and encourage their employees to lead a healthy lifestyle and this does not always have to incur costs.  The benefits for the companies are obvious in that a healthy workforce is a happy workforce.

We would like you to tell us how your company achieves this.  You may for example promote fitness classes, gym membership, private healthcare, cycling schemes, sponsored walks, counselling, smoke stop, promote healthy eating in your dining room or other initiatives.

We would like to hear from any employer who has the health of their staff at the forefront of their business.

 Entry criteria

  • Evidence of healthy workplace initiatives no matter how small
  • Level of employee engagement and the benefits you feel it brings to your company
  • Longevity and how you can sustain it going forward

Application process

Entry can be either online or paper based.

  • Online entry
    If you are entering on-line you will have the ability to create an account and will therefore be able to save your entry and log in at a later date to complete if required.  Click on the "enter now" button and choose the award category you would like to enter.
  • Paper-based entry
    For paper based entries click on the "enter now" button where you can then download the relevant Award entry form.  Please send your completed entry form and accompanying documentation Recorded Delivery to the person named on the entry form.

Supporting documentation

Additional supporting evidence including documentation of any healthy working practice initiatives, photographs, press cuttings and endorsements may be included for your entry.

Judging Process 

All information will be treated confidentially and  will only be circulated amongst the judges.

Closing date for entries is Friday 9th September 2011.  Please note this date is final and will not be extended.

Shortlisted companies will be visited by the judging panel at their offices early October and the judges will then choose three finalists.

Finalists will be invited to attend the following two events as a guest of their Sponsor:

  • The Meet the Finalists and Sponsors event at 6.30pm-8.30pm on Monday 14th November 2011 (venue to be decided)
  • The Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner at 7pm on Thursday 24th November 2011 at the Lighthouse in Poole as a guest of their Sponsor.
