Eligibility
The Dorset Tourism Award is open to any business, visitor attraction, or event with a BH/DT postcode or which is based in Dorset (including accommodation providers, restaurants, transport companies, tourism venues, festivals etc) which are accessible on a seasonal or year round basis. You do not have to be a Member of Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry to enter.
Description of the Award from the Sponsors
The Dorset Tourism Award celebrates the success of one of Dorset’s most vibrant sectors, Tourism, Leisure & Hospitality. It will showcase our County's finest people, businesses, events and attractions for their contributions and success within the County of Dorset.
Entry criteria
Does your company:
- Build effective relationships with visitors and use innovative methods to encourage retention and referral
- Ensure visitor and market satisfaction through impeccable service delivery
- Demonstrate commitment to improving product or service quality by establishing effective product improvement
- Have proactive promotional and marketing communication avenues to showcase the business and Dorset
- Promote the wider County Tourism products, local produce and the Community

Application process
Entry can be either online or paper based.
- Online entry
If you are entering on-line you will have the ability to create an account and will therefore be able to save your entry and log in at a later date to complete if required. Click on the "enter now" button and choose the award category you would like to enter.
- Paper-based entry
For paper based entries click on the "enter now" button where you can then download the relevant Award entry form. Please send your completed entry form and accompanying documentation Recorded Delivery marked "Dorset Tourism Award Entry" to the person named on the entry form.
Supporting Documentation
Please submit supporting documentation this could include written statements, press cuttings, photographs, testimonials or endorsements, case studies, marketing materials or other.
Judging process
All information will be treated confidentially and will only be circulated amongst the judges.
Closing date for entries is Friday 9th September 2011. Please note this date is final and will not be extended.
Site visits will be made to short listed companies by representatives of the judging panel late September/early October.
Finalists will be invited to attend the following two events as a guest of their Sponsor:
- The Meet the Finalists and Sponsors event at 6.30pm-8.30pm on Monday 14th November 2011 (venue to be decided)
- The Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner at 7pm on Thursday 24th November 2011 at the Lighthouse in Poole as a guest of their Sponsor.
