The biggest asset an organisation has is its people, an employer which invests the time money and effort required to promote and support positive health and well-being are far more likely to achieve its business goals than those which do not. A fitter, healthier, happier workforce can impact positively on productivity and prosperity. Society also benefits from a workforce concentrating on better health for themselves and their families.

Definition
“ ..a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – World Health Organisation

This award seeks to recognise a successful Dorset based business who empowers and supports its people to succeed by going above and beyond legal requirements to meet the health and well-being needs of its employees. The winning organisation will be able to demonstrate its understanding and implementation of its health and well-being strategy and programme in action but also be able to validate ways in which it goes above and beyond standard practices. Judges will be looking for an organisation with the ability to inspire others to do the same.

Eligibility
  • Members of the current year’s Employee Health and Wellbeing Award Judges’ panel are not eligible to nominate or receive this award.
  • A nominated business will be located within DT or BH postcodes and open to both members and non-members of the Dorset Chamber.
  • Winners of this category from the previous year are not eligible to enter.
  • Entrants can only enter a total of 2x awards per year.

Creative Impact Award

Recognising creative and impactful marketing campaigns (any element of the marketing mix eg brand, promotions, digital, PR, design, etc)

Judges are looking for inspirational examples of marketing excellence and creative originality in any project undertaken within the last 2 years. Entrants should be able to provide tangible results which met the objectives of the problem the campaign was charged with solving.

Eligibility
  • Entrants can only enter a total of 2x awards per year.
  • The Creative and Impact Award is open to businesses of any size which have a BH/DT postcode or are based in Dorset.

This award, new for 2019, celebrating the importance of engineering and manufacturing sector in Dorset, recognises excellence and achievements in terms of research and development, productivity, training and development, the application of new technology and innovative design. Applicants will also be asked to demonstrate a solid record of growth as well as a strong business plan for future.

Dorset Environmental Award

This award is designed to encourage Dorset’s businesses to improve their environmental performance and value Dorset’s natural assets in their operations. It will recognise and reward businesses that have shown outstanding commitment to manage the environmental impact of their business operations or have developed their own business in the field of managing the environmental impact of other businesses or the wider community.

Environmental improvements include actions to; benefit wildlife and wildlife habitats; reduce emissions, waste or noise; improve raw material use or transport efficiency; clean up land; manage land for nature; compensate for effects on Dorset’s natural assets and reduce any negative impact of business activities.

Apprentice of the Year Award

Recognising the future talent of Dorset. This award recognises an apprentice who has done the most to seize the training and development opportunities presented to them throughout their apprenticeship programme and can show demonstrable results. They will have made a significant contribution to support the business activities of their employer and are on track for a successful career. The individual will also be an ambassador for apprenticeships and actively champion, promote and provide information about Apprenticeships to students, parents, teachers and businesses.
