Celebrating the achievements of businesses, the Dorset Business Awards are an accolade to those companies whose vision, ambition and skills have led to new heights of success.
Creative Project of the Year Award, sponsored by The Arts Institute at Bournemouth and Liz Lean PR
Judges will be looking for Dorset’s most outstanding creative project and it could be an individual, a team, or an organisation that wins this accolade. If you have completed a ground-breaking campaign or project that has achieved a real impact in a business context then this award is for you!
Dorset Charity of the Year Award, sponsored by Sunseeker International
This new Award is an opportunity for local Charities to have a direct audience with more than 650 of the region’s most successful business operators. The winner, chosen live at the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner, will not only receive a cheque from the sponsor Sunseeker International, but they will also hold the title of ‘Dorset Charity of the Year’ for 12 months, to support their nominated goal for 2009.
Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Bournemouth University and the Institute of Directors
The individual or team that win this award will be able to demonstrate the realisation of their entrepreneurial vision and how it has contributed to the economic and social well being of Dorset.
Environmental Excellence Award, sponsored by BP
This award will be presented to a firm with a defined environmental policy which shows evidence of a commitment to sound environmental good practice.
Excellence in Customer/Client Care Award, sponsored by Porter Dodson
This Award will recognise the business that can demonstrate across its practices its commitment to providing the very highest level of customer/ client care and in doing so be described as truly customer/ client focused.
KPMG Company of the Year Award
All-round business excellence will be the prerequisite of this award. Firms which lead the way in terms of growth, strong leadership, and innovation strategies could be in the running to win this award.
Linking with Schools Award, sponsored by The Borough of Poole, Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset County Council
Judges will be looking for a firm that has established an on-going positive relationship with a secondary (including middle) school in Dorset which is proving successful and will continue to develop. The school will nominate the company and an award will also be given to the school.
Outstanding Working Environment Award, sponsored by Dorset Business (the Chamber of Commerce & Industry) and PH Warr plc
The award will promote and reward employers who best demonstrate the provision of exceptional working environments for their staff, most fit for the purpose of the organisations activities.
Princecroft Willis Family Business Award
Family businesses play an important part in the contribution to the local economy and this award seeks to recognise a family business that has achieved excellence, success and longevity.
RBS Management Team Award
A team who demonstrates strong leadership skills, drive, commitment, adaptability and the ability to think and plan ahead will be presented with this award. As a result the company will have seen strong financial performance, have sound strategic plans in place and will be a vibrant place to work.
2012 Legacy Award sponsored by Team South West
This new award is offered to Dorset businesses that can best demonstrate changes and improvements inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Using this opportunity as a catalyst for sustainable long-term growth, benefiting the people, economy and environment of the area and helping to ensure that Weymouth & Portland and Dorset is a welcoming, vibrant and inspirational host for a successful Games.
Entering more than one category is permitted.
Non-Chamber members are also encouraged to apply.
How to enter
Click the link to the awards category you wish to enter then complete the entry form on-line (some awards are also paper-based where stated). Each category has several questions.
Entries can be supported by literature, photographs or anything else deemed relevant to your entry. These can be uploaded on to the website (maximum of 10).
All entrants should have read and conform to the Terms And Conditions.
The Dorset Business Awards regrets that entries are non-returnable, so please do not include any original documentation. All entries and information submitted to the Dorset Business Awards are treated in the strictest of confidence. Financial information is only seen by the judging panel.
If your entry is paper-based please ensure you post it to the relevant person listed on the website and send it recorded delivery.
Finalists from each award category will be announced prior to the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner. One finalist from each awards category will be invited to attend the Gala dinner on Tuesday 18th November 2008 at the BIC in Bournemouth as a guest of their Sponsor. Further tickets can be purchased by clicking on the Gala Dinner section of the website. Last year this event was sold out with 630 key business people in attendance so don’t delay book today!
