Description of the Award

This new Award is an opportunity for local Charities to have a direct audience with over 650 of the Region's most successful business operators. The winner, chosen live at the Awards Dinner, will not only receive a cheque from sponsors Sunseeker International, but they will also hold the title of ‘Dorset Charity of the Year' for 12 months, to support their nominated goal for 2009.

Invited back to the 2009 Awards Dinner, the winning Charity will have the opportunity to speak again and describe the benefits gained from winning this prestigious Award.

Prize

The winner of the Dorset Charity of the Year Award will receive a cheque for £5,000 donated by the sponsor of this Award, Sunseeker International.

Entry Criteria/Eligibility

  1. Entry is open to any registered Charity based in Dorset.
  2. The Charity will need to demonstrate that it operates to the benefit of Dorset and the surrounding region.

Supporting documentation

Information supplied must be in line with the listed judging criteria shown on the Dorset Business Awards website www.dorsetbusinessawards.co.uk. Additional supporting evidence including photographs, press cuttings and endorsements may be included.

Judging

A panel of judges will shortlist entries early October 2008 down to three finalists.

The three finalists will be invited to present their entry project at the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner to be held on Tuesday 18th November 2008 (maximum 3 minutes per presentation - format to be confirmed)

The attendees at the Dorset Business Awards Gala Dinner will vote live on the night to choose the winner of the Dorset Charity of the Year Award.
